Mexico’s President and entrepreneurs talk about green solutions
“We can reach solutions that benefit both the people and the environment and at the same time avoid a special sacrifice from the countries or the people”, said Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, president of Mexico at the Forum Business Climate Action 2010, organized by The Coca Cola Company at the Aqua Hotel.
Calderón also said that it is possible to create financial programs, such as the Green Fund that will focus on the REDD policy, an initiative concentrated on the Forest and with broad consensus among the countries of COP16.
Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention, said that the revolution towards cleaner energies has already begun, as well as a revolution of the different ways communities are fighting against climate change.
The panel Conversation on Business, Climate and Global Prosperity was led by presidents of important multinational businesses. Mr. Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of the Coca Cola Company said that “businesses can play an important role” in moving towards clean energy production.
José Antonio Fernández Carbajal, chairman and CEO of FEMSA, stressed that the only way to sustain a business for the long term is to balance economic and social sides.
“Sustainable business is common sense”, said Andrews N. Livens, chairman and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company.
