Delegates’ security: priority for Mexico
COP16/CMP6 offers free transportation and lodging for delegates
Julio Camarena Villaseñor, Undersecretary of Budgetary and Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, said that security has been a priority for the country.
The general coordination is led by the Major Presidential Estate, backed by the Mexican Army, the National Defense and the Federal Forces from the Ministry of Public Security.
During the press conference this Tuesday November 30th, Undersecretary of Budgetary and Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico added that in order to guarantee that COP16/CMP6 activities take place without any setbacks, there are transportation means connecting the Riviera Maya and the Hotel Zone, free of charge for the participants.
Camarena Villaseñor mentioned that a fully equipped hostel is now open for those Non-Governmental Organizations which require it; this hostel even has medical services. .
The Mexican government has repeatedly promoted a space for free dialogue and debate for civil society in general, which is the Climate Change Village, with more than 5,000 visitors a day since its opening.
