Cities and parliaments’ Initiative seek to care for the planet
In the presence of Mexican and foreign legislators, civil society representatives and delegates of the conference on Climate Change, the Cities’ and Parliaments’ Initiative meeting was held in the Mar Conference Room of the Moon Palace building, an official venue of the COP16 in Cancun, as a part of the World Mayors Climate Summit.

She said that the government of Mexico appreciates the commitment of legislators and that their effort transcends borders in the fight against climate change.
Christiana Figueres Olsen, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), said that "legislators, mayors and city leaders are at the forefront of the efforts to care for the planet, implementing both mitigation and adaptation efforts in the cities.”
Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón, President of the World Mayors Council on Climate Change and Major of Mexico City, said that "This is a historic day for mayors and local organizations around the world, because we can talk and present our point of view on Climate Change.”
